Full HD video on your cell phone?

If you needed more proof that cell phones are becoming the most important gadget you’ll need to carry, Japan’s Renesas Technology Corp has announced a new integrated circuit that could soon provide us with handheld HDTV mobile phones.
Their SH7370 is claimed to be the first to deliver 1,920 by 1,080 (pixels) video recording and playback. It supports the H.264/MPEG-4 video compression standard with a frame rate of 30fps, HDMI connections, wireless LANs and more!
It also incorporates two 24-bit dedicated audio processors — one to handle stereo audio and the other handles sonic enhancements — 5.1-channels and Dolby Digital included.
Remember, we’re talking cell phones here. Since some new handsets have screens that are already capable of supporting Full HD video, this processor could be the “missing link” we’ve been waiting for.
The company reports that they’ve already begun to ship sample chips to interested parties.
